1. Start with the application and surface

Describe where the sticker or label will be used before making assumptions about durability, adhesive or finish.

Useful context can include:

  • product or packaging application;
  • general surface type;
  • glass/window use;
  • wall or floor use;
  • vehicle use;
  • indoor/outdoor exposure where it is genuinely relevant;
  • any known handling, removal or performance requirement.

If a technical property is critical, it should be confirmed for the actual selected material rather than inferred from a generic material name.

2. Choose the right service family

Vinyl stickers

Use the Vinyl Sticker Printing owner for a general custom-vinyl requirement where the application, size, quantity and specification still need to be defined.

Product and packaging labels

Use Label & Product Label Printing when the main task is a label for a product, package or container and supply/application details matter.

Custom-shape stickers

Use Die-Cut / Custom-Shape Stickers when the finished cut shape is a defining part of the job.

Transparent / clear stickers

Use Transparent / Clear Stickers for clear-sticker requirements. Do not confuse this route with Frosted/Privacy or One-Way Vision window graphics.

Window, wall, floor, vehicle or office graphics

When the job is primarily a surface/site branding project rather than a standard sticker order, use the relevant managed-project owner through the Services Hub.

3. Material names do not prove performance

Terms such as vinyl, clear and kraft help describe categories, but the name alone does not establish every property a buyer may care about.

Do not assume a generic material automatically provides a fixed:

  • lifespan;
  • waterproof/weatherproof result;
  • UV or heat resistance;
  • removability or permanent adhesion;
  • food/contact suitability;
  • environmental property;
  • safety/compliance rating.

If one of those requirements matters, it should be verified against the actual material/product used for the job.

4. Shape and supply format are separate decisions

The way a sticker is cut and the way labels/stickers are supplied can affect the workflow, but they should not be collapsed into one vague “type.”

For a custom finished shape, use the Die-Cut / Custom-Shape route.

For roll/reel versus individually cut/cut-to-size handling, use the dedicated Roll Stickers vs Cut-to-Size Guide rather than assuming one format is universally better.

5. Clear stickers are not the same as glass privacy graphics

A transparent/clear sticker requirement and a broader window-film/glass-graphics project are different tasks.

If the requirement is a clear sticker/label, use the Transparent/Clear owner.

If the main task is Frosted/Privacy, decorative glazing or other broader Window & Glass graphics, use:

Window & Glass Graphics: Window & Glass Graphics

If the specific requirement is One-Way Vision/perforated window graphics, use its dedicated route.

6. Artwork readiness changes what DSP needs next

If your artwork is ready, send it with the requirement.

If it is not ready, state whether you need:

  • design/artwork creation;
  • revisions;
  • redesigning;
  • help adapting existing artwork to the selected physical application.

DSP can support design/artwork and revisions where required, but this guide does not publish universal file-format, bleed, colour or prepress specifications that have not been confirmed for DSP's actual workflow.

7. Quantity, dimensions and timing matter

Include quantity and dimensions when you know them because they are practical quote inputs.

If the job has a target date, include it early. If the deadline is urgent, make the hard deadline explicit rather than simply asking for “fast” service.

Same-day sticker printing may be possible when quantity, required quality/specification and production conditions allow. It is not a universal guarantee.

8. If you are unsure, do not guess

A useful enquiry can simply say:

  • what you need printed;
  • where it will be used;
  • size/quantity if known;
  • artwork status;
  • location;
  • target date;
  • “not sure / help me choose” for material or finish.

That gives DSP enough context to route you toward the appropriate service without requiring you to diagnose production details yourself.

The visuals do not prove universal material performance or every product option. Any comparison claim still needs evidence specific to the actual product/process.
